Topics Addressed:
- How to "really" learn who your students are (beyond student surveys to community immersion, etc.)
- How can you use authentic student information during classroom instruction in positive and productive ways?
- How can you use authentic student information to inform your content?
- Examples of leveraging identity and diversity for multiple subjects and for multiple community contexts (i.e. Miss Delta, Appalachia, New York, Tulsa, etc.)
- What truths can we generalize, how do we collect that information iteratively and authentically and how can it be used to make content more relevant, more engaging for all students?
- Teachers are knowledgeable of CRP and its role in the classroom
- Diversity is everywhere but every school and district has their own unique and individual identity that needs to be considered.
- Teachers know their students and their lives
- Teachers are able to translate information regarding students and their lives to their course curriculum and instructional strategies
- Teachers believe that forming a relationship with students and their families is a key element to understanding identity and culture
