Introduction to Modeling in Chemistry
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This module serves as an introduction to the Modeling Instruction method and the Chemistry Modeling curriculum of the American Modeling Teachers Association (AMTA). Teach For America corps members and alumni educators who successfully complete this module and its final assessment will receive a paid one-year AMTA membership and access to the AMTA community and resources.

- What the Modeling cycle is and see an example of it in action.

- What resources are available in the Chemistry Modeling instructional materials, and how they are organized.
Skills: Teachers know how to
- Access AMTA site and sign up for membership
- Access instructional materials on the AMTA site
- Access network of professionals through AMTA site
- Sign up for additional professional development
Mindset: Teachers believe in
- The impact of learning outcomes of a student-centered, teacher-guided classroom (a constructivist approach)
- The importance of practice to develop in enacting the pedagogy to support students to work through this learning process.
